Long Road

I'm only a few days short of three months since I broke my collarbone in two spots and twisted the middle chunk away from the rest of the bone. I was really bummed when that happened not only because it was the third time I would be hurt this year, but also because I knew I had to miss all of the amazing fall riding go down without me. To take advantage of all the amazing weather Kamloops recieves during the fall months I put a positive spin on not being able to ride and started hiking all day on the weekends. Walking around the woods all day and searching for cool new areas wasn't only peaceful. It also helped me find alot of really interesting things that I can build in the spring for photo shoots and to help Aggy film a banger NWD 10 segment.

Photos: Allan Mcvicar... Me in october, all slinged up!

Because of how awkwardly I broke my collarbone, it needed to be re-set by hand and left sitting comfortably in a sling for TWO MONTHS! Because I was also in alot of pain, It was interesting and frustrating learning to live with one arm. Normal stuff like driving, stapling reciepts and getting out of bed were so hard. The sling came off in mid November and I have been working really hard since then to get strong again. Pumping a two pound weight sounds easy but it was a chore for me! After alot of exercising (and a bit of peer pressure from Graham) I did a push-up at work the other day, thats a good sign! On the sixteenth I have my final appointment with my shoulder specialist and all signs are pointing towards me not having to see him ever again! Or atleast not till next summer, hahah!
