So just as everyone else has new bike fever, my case of the contagion caught hold in a big way today. I have been super excited about my new ride coming in the mail for the last while but have been so committed to school and coaching and my normal activities as well as being busy with a trip for school to New Orleans and a bunch of other stuff that I haven't had much time to think about it. Then while I was still down south I got a mysterious message on my phone from Cheryl saying a package had arrived for me. My curiosity grew and a smile kept sneaking onto my as-of-late too-serious face. I got home exhausted Friday night after a day and a half of late flights, missed connections, lost baggage, general airport chaos and a lot of driving, but the curious animation was still there. Saturday and Sunday I had to coach at Sun Peaks and I spent the majority of Sunday evening in the hospital after getting in a fight with the snow, but even on crutches my mind was removed from my situation. After 6 straight hours of class today I finally got to sneak away on break down to the shop to discover what the package held. Turns out it was my super sleak 09 Giant Glory DH. If there were ever a sight for sore eyes this was it, and having to leave the poor thing behind left my balls the color of the frame. Damn that bike is hot! At least I know it is in good company with all the other 09s and the friendly Cafe crew. Tomorrow I hope to leave the crutches behind so now I await only the sun to melt the snow and ice and a chance to get to the trails. Can't wait.
Sooo, if you have a chance to stop by the shop, look for the bike that is begging for speed, loamy dirt and the chance to inspire a smile, and you will know which one she is. And check out all the other 09s if you are more successful at prying your eyes away than I.
Many thanks to Cheryl, Taylor and the whole Cafe crew. I am so stoked for this season.
J
