Bike is here. Glory 0. Couldn’t have been better timing. Jay and I had al
ready decided to go down to the coast to pick up a motorbike that we’ve been wanting for a while. And now this trip is going to be an adventure. Must ride the Shore. We checked the weather forecast and it looks good....for once. Sunny....what? My friend Kara laughs as I try to convince her to come out with us. Yeah, it’s sunny.....but it has been raining for the last 2 weeks! And it’s pretty cold – so we all know what that means at this time of year – ice. Whatever, it can’t be any worse than what I’ve ridden before right? Hahaha....so I thought. So
we get to the bottom of Seymour, stoked to be there, new bike and about an hour of sunlight left. Mission: Boogieman. Well, I’ve ridden that trail probably a hundred times in my life, but never in the conditions like that. The trails were, for the most part, unusually dry for this time of year. The roots and wood portions of the trail were not so much. In fact, I must admit, it was a little scary. If it had no snow on it, it had either a layer of extremely slippery algae or, even better, a layer of ice! I was giggling the whole way down (something I do when I get nervous) feeling like this was my first
time on a bike....ever. Good ‘ole Shore. Always good if you ever want to get that adrenaline fix. Made it down alive. Bike is still in one piece. Even though it wasn’t the most ideal of rides, it was still so much fun and I’m so happy to have been able to get out at least once more before the real snow hits. And to finish off the adventure with some good eats and party crashing was icing on the cake! It’s always nice to go back and see friends, but it’s also nice to be home, in Kamloops.....where the weather is -20.... ....argh.
