Mid season shred-fest

So this post is preceding my first two days off wheels in a row in the last month. I have had an epic mid race season break running the freeride camps at Sun Peaks, coaching my race program, helping Cheryl out with the Sun Peaks women’s program, building, shooting and organizing a sports psychology series with Dave Freeze. For the first time I can remember everything I do has to do with riding, and I am embracing it as much as possible.
The camps at Sun Peaks have been a blast to coach, the last 3 weeks being back to back camps first being joined by Hunter, the second by myself and then this week pairing up with Aggy. The 20 something kids I got to coach during this time were rippers, super stoked on life and easy to teach. Big smiles all round for sure, and despite my exhaustion from riding all day every day, each morning I was stoked to get up there for more. The kids have been blowing my mind with how fast they learn and how solidly they ride. I have had two 12 year old kids hit the first dirt jump on the pro line at Sun Peaks during these camps, and above that feat the level of energy they carry with them and their open eyes to the world have been refreshing. These kids are the future. Coaching with Hunter and Aggy has been awesome, during the busy midseason we don’t get to ride together as much with our busy schedules, but with the camps we get to every day so that has been lots of fun. Aggy was shredding so hard this week it was ridiculous, he definitely inspired me riding and I think he got a few things from my coaching as well, so it was a good pairing.
